Chinese Beef Stew and Potatoes

 

Chinese Beef Stew and Potatoes is a common dish in China. Because the beef takes more time to cook, I boiling it in the  electric cooker before stewing. Or you can use the pressure cooker to cook the beef first, as long as twenty minutes.  Then stir fry the potatoes and beef, add water to the wok, stewing until cooked through. 

The step of stir frying is indispensable, so the dish tastes better, and it is excellent with rice. Try to cook it , you will not be disappointed.

Ingredients

  • 650 gram beef,cut into pieces
  • One potato about 250 gram, cut into pieces
  • 2 slices of ginger
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 star anise
  • 3 small dried red peppers
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon oil
  • 2 tablespoon light soy sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Add the beef pieces and water to the electric cooker, let the water exceed the beef,  press the cooking button, transfer to a bowl after cooked.
  2. Add 2 tablespoon oil to a wok, heat over medium high heat, add potato pieces, ginger, green onions, stir-frying for 2 minutes, then add remaining ingredients and cooked beef pieces, stir-frying for 1 minute.
  3. Then add 400 ml water to the wok,bring to a boiling, then heat over medium heat, stewing until the water is dry and cooked through.
  4. Serve with rice.
