Chinese Date Paste

Chinese date also named jujube is such a common ingredient in Chinese recipes that has health benefits for our body. From the perspective of traditional Chinese medicine, it can replenish blood and qi. When cooking soup, porridge, and tea, you can add a few red dates on hand. The Chinese dates are processed jujube paste , which is often used as a filling for Chinese pastry and dessert.

It is more difficult to get jujube paste than red bean filling, but everything is worth it for eating healthy. The stirring step while heating, spent a lot of time can not be omitted.

Ingredients

  • About 1 lb. jujube
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoon oil

Instructions

  1. Cut each date with scissor, remove the stones, and wash them.
  2. Steaming them for 20 minutes with steamer.
  3. Add them to breaker, add some water, beat them into mud.
  4. Add the mud to a pot, heat over medium-low heat while stirring, add oil several times,  until the water is evaporated.
