Chinese Stuffed Tofu

(Last Updated on May 30, 2024 by Amiee)

Tofu is a great invention of the Chinese. It is rich in plant protein and is a favorite of vegetarians. Stuffed tofu I shared today is a hakka style dish which belongs to Yue cuisine. If you often go to a Cantonese restaurant for dinner, you will find that it is a dish ordered frequently.

Stuffed tofu is a classic Hakka dish originating from the Hakka regions in southern China, particularly popular in Guangdong, Fujian, and Jiangxi. The Hakka people are a unique cultural group in southern China, who have developed distinct culinary habits through multiple migrations in their history.

Stuffed tofu offers a rich texture, with a golden crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior. The softness of the tofu perfectly combines with the savory meat filling, providing each bite with a rich flavor and aroma of tofu and meat.

Stuffed tofu is not only delicious but also highly nutritious. Tofu is rich in plant protein, calcium, and vitamins, while the pork filling provides high-quality animal protein and various minerals. This combination makes stuffed tofu not only tasty but also very healthy.

Tofu with plant protein and minced pork with animal protein are perfect nutritional combination. Pan-frying firstly, then stewed with sauce, at last served with a bowl of rice, what a satisfying meal!
