Fried Sesame Balls – Traditional Smiling Sesame Cookie Balls

Smiling sesame cookie balls originated from one of the traditional Chinese dim sum. It is named after the appearance of a smile when the fried surface is cracked. Ingredients

All-purpose flour, also known as plain flour, is a versatile staple in the world of baking and cooking. Chinese called it “中筋面粉”.

Oil, just choose the oil commonly used in Chinese cooking, such as soybean oil, sunflower oil, etc.

Sugar,  you can choose granulated sugar, here, sugar is added to make the filling more delicious.

Baking powder, baking powder can make the dough more fluffy, and for health, make the sesame balls taste better. For health, it is best to choose baking powder without aluminum

One egg

Roasted sesame seeds, roast raw sesame seeds and use them, it is the soul of sesame balls

Instructions

1. Make a dough with flour, sugar, baking powder, egg and oil.


2. Place the dough on the work board, knead it into a long cylinder, cut it into 8 parts evenly.

3. Shape each one into a ball.


4. Dip each ball in the water first, then roll in the sesame seeds.


5.Heat one cup of oil in a pot over medium-low heat, when the oil temperature reaches 120 degrees, put in the first batch of sesame balls until golden brown and cracked, take them out.

6. Do the same for the rest sesame balls.

How to eat

Serve warm or cool to room temperature.

  • One bowl of water,100 ml
  • Roasted sesame seeds, 4 tbsp-
  • For deep-frying
  • One cup of oil

Instructions
