(Last Updated on April 27, 2024 by Amiee)

Wonton , also known as Yunun(云吞), Chaoshou(抄手), Bianshi(扁食) etc., is a traditional pasta originating from China, and has its own characteristics in various parts of the country.

The preparation of wonton is similar to that of dumplings, but the wrapper is much thinner and smaller than dumplings. Moreover, wontons are always served with soup. Different regions prepare different soup bases to match the wontons.

  • Wrappers making

The dough is usually kneaded with flour and water, rolled into thin sheets and cut into small pieces to make wonton wrappers. In Guangdong, eggs are added to make the skin less likely to break.

For specific methods, please refer to my previous article on how to make wonton wrappers.

You can also buy ready-made wonton wrappers online.
