Sticky Rice Balls and Red Bean Sugar Water

Cantonese people love sugar water as much as soup and herbal tea. Sugar water is not a literal composition of sugar and water, but a rich dessert or soup with kinds of ingredients. It can nourish health, and it can also remove dampness and dryness. Sugar water can be used as dessert after Chinese dinner. Sweet food can make people happy.

From the point of view of traditional Chinese medicine, red beans can nourish the heart, invigorate the spleen and remove dampness, and also benefit the kidney. Glutinous rice also can tonify energy and enrich the blood. The combination of the two is a very nourishing health sugar water.

Ingredients

-Cook the red beans

  •  Red beans, 100 g 
  • Water, 500 ml

—-Make glutinous rice balls

  •  Glutinous rice flour, 70 g
  • Water, 50 ml
  • Sugar, 30 g

Instructions

  1. Add red bean and water to the pressure cooker, cook for 30 minutes.
  2.  Mix glutinous and water in a big bowl, make a dough
  3. Take half of the dough, knead it into a long cylinder, divide it into 16 equl portions
  4. Knead each one into a ball with your hands, set aside.
  5. Add cooked read bean soup to a pot, add some glutinous rice balls, cook for 3 minutea after the water boils, until cooked through, turn off the heat.
  6. Sweet glutinous rice balls and red bean soup is ready.
