Sweet Potato Porridge

During the 1950s and 1960s, rice production was low, and sweet potatoes were a staple food on the dinner table of Chinese people. It seems to be a mark of hardship, a memory that cannot be erased by people who lived during the period.

Sweet potatoes contain almost no protein and high starch content but are rich in vitamin C, a variety of minerals, and a large amount of dietary fiber. Compared to refined food, it has a better health promotion effect. Sweet potatoes have also changed from low-cost staple food to healthy food.

Although sweet potatoes are good, they are not suitable for eating more because of flatulence.

Ingredients

One sweet potato about 160 gram

50 gram polished round-grained rice

1000 ml water

Yield: serves 2

Instructions

        Wash sweet potato, cut into bite size pieces, wash the rice.

Option 1

  1. Add rice, sweet potato, and water to a soup pot, simmer on low heat for half an hour.
  2. Serve warm.

Option 2

  1. Add sweet potato, rice, and water  to a pressure cooker or rice cooker
  2. Press the porridge button, serve it when program finished.
  3. Serve warm.
