Tofu Recipes Chinese Style – Stuffed Tofu, Greens, Rice | One Person Meal Under 15 Minutes

 Stuffed tofu, a representative of traditional Hakka cuisine in China, has profound cultural and historical significance behind it. According to legend, this dish originated in the Hakka regions of southern China, where the Hakka people combined local ingredients and cooking methods to create a unique delicacy during their migrations.
 
In ancient times, due to wars, disasters, and other reasons, the Hakka people had to leave their homes and migrate to other places. During their migrations, they faced difficulties such as a lack of ingredients and primitive cooking conditions.
 
However, with their hard work and wisdom, the Hakka people utilized limited resources to create numerous delicious dishes. Among them, stuffed tofu is a dish that they created by utilizing tofu, a common ingredient, and combining it with their hometown cooking techniques.
 
The process of making stuffed tofu not only reflects the Hakka people’s appreciation and rational utilization of ingredients, but also shows their love and pursuit of delicious food. Hollow out a piece of tender tofu, fill it with seasoned meat filling, and then cook it.The tender tofu and delicious meat filling blend together, creating a dish with excellent color, aroma, and taste.
 
Stuffed tofu, stir-fry baby bok choy, and rice are today’s meal. Use a pressure cooker to cook rice, the tofu and vegetable are ready while the rice is cooking. For a skilled cook, it can be completed in 15 minutes.
 
INGREDIENTS
For rice
  • Rice, 80 g, washed
  • Water, 150ml – Stuffed tofu
  • Tofu, 20 OZ(5 pieces)
For ground pork
  • Lean pork, 60 OZ
  • Ginger, 1/4 OZ
  • Scallion, 1/4 OZ
  • Cooking wine, 1 tsp
  • Potato starch, 1 tbsp
  • Light soy sauce, 1 tbsp
  • Pepper powder, 1/2 tsp
  • Egg, 1
For the sauce
  •  Fresh red chili, 1
  • Light soy sauce, 2 tbsp
  •  Potato starch, 1 tsp
  • Salt, 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder, 1/2 tsp
  • Water, 6 tbsp
For pan-frying the tofu
  • Oil, 4 tbsp Stir-fry baby bok choy
  • Baby bok choy, 200 g, cut into sections
  • Garlic, 3 cloves, chopped
  • Oil, 1 tsp 
Instructions
1. Add washed rice , water to an electric pressure cooker, cook for 10 minutes.
2. Cut the pork into pieces
3. Chop the ginger, scallion and pork with a meat grinder
4. Mix the ground pork with cooking wine, light soy sauce, potato starch, pepper powder, and egg.
5. Use a spoon to dig holes in the center of the tofu.
6. Fill to tofu with ground pork
7. Cut the red chili
8. Make sauce with red chili, light soy sauce, sugar, potato starch, salt, and water.
9. Pan-fry the tofu until brown on both sides, turn off the heat.
10. Prepare and stir-fry the baby bok choy.
11.The meal is ready.
